Ta’ang National Liberation Army

The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) ((ビルマ語:တအောင်း အမျိုးသား လွတ်မြောက်ရေး တပ်မတော်)) is the armed wing of the Palaung State Liberation Front (PSLF). The TNLA actively searches for opium poppy fields and destroys them; opium smugglers caught are arrested.〔(Vice documentary on TNLA )〕 The TNLA are opposed to the government, and have engaged with government forces numerous times during their operations against opium smuggling.〔(Burma: Rubies and Religion documentary by Java Films )〕 Currently, the TNLA are fighting alongside the Kachin Independence Army and the Shan State Army - South against the government in northern Shan State.
==History==

Palaung leaders Tar Aik Bong and Tar Bone Kyaw founded the TNLA along with the PSLF to continue fighting government forces after the original organization signed a ceasefire and disarmament agreement in 2005.
After the 2010 elections and the 2011 constitutional reforms, the government recognized the Pa Laung Self-Administered Zone in northern Shan state as a special self-administration zone. However it remains very underdeveloped and there are very few schools and hospitals.〔(Myanmar Peace Monitor: Stakeholders - Ta'ang )〕
